The Mr Men are a 4 piece covers band from Kingston upon Hull. The band was founded by frontman Russell Donkin and drummer Dave Naylor in 2009.
Multi award winning vocalist Russell Donkin has the experience of being a professional singer that dates back to 2001. Many milestones in his career, notably Freedom Festival 2009 where he performed to a crowd of 70,000 people which gave him the edge and inspiration to fulfil his lifelong ambition of performing with a live band. Russell's vocal ability and immense range was quickly snapped up by Viking FM where he is now the voice of 96.9's Breakfast Show.
Dave Naylor's wealth of experience as a musician, singer and comedian brings many attributes to our performances. He has the ability to nail harmonies that leave many people gasping. Not to mention that he does all of this whilst mercilessly beating the hell out of his kit. Dave has played in many bands that covers a huge spectrum of genres.
Dave Herrick's drive as a lead / rhythm guitarist shines through when he hits the stage. His blinding solos and gutsy rhythm creates a distinctive sound in the band. His skill as a guitarist was hugely enhanced due to the result of an unfortunate accident that occurred in 2010 which left Dave with a severely broken arm. After relentless practice his skills rocketed as did his creativity. After playing to over 10,000 people at a recent festival with The Mr Men, Dave has a thirst that even Dracula would be proud of.
A three piece acoustic band that offers tight musicianship, multi-genre uniqueness and hard hitting harmonies. Easy listening and can connect with all different target audiences, which makes us ideal and open for many different types of gigs and opportunities.
We were formed in 2011 and have gigged all over the UK and parts of Europe, these being a range from festivals, university student balls, supporting many signed artists including Alexandra Burke, Marcus Collins, Lucy Spraggan, Ella Eyre and Professor Green.
We have been lucky enough to perform in front of 23,000 people and switch our city’s Christmas Lights.
We’ve won our City’s busk Idol competition with the local radio station ‘Viking FM’ and come 2nd in the local Newspaper’s ‘Hull Daily Mail Talent Trail’ were we played in Hull city Hall in the final. We have represented our old College by performing at numerous Award Ceremonies and open evenings.
We have had air play over radio stations, including one that broadcast across America and Australia.
We have also travelled to Germany and helped organise and play at a couple of gigs for the returning troops of Afghanistan alongside 2 other bands that are close friends of ours; this was an incredible experience.
We are influenced by many different artists such as Mumford and Sons, Kings of leon, Kodaline and Vampire weekend.

"BADNESS" formed in July 1994 and quickly became one of the top Madness tribute bands & Ska / 2Tone revival bands in the country. Within six months the band were selling out various venues across the U.K. & Eire. Originally a seven piece outfit consisting of ; guitar, bass, drums, sax, trumpet, keyboards and vocals. They soon became six, with front man and vocalist (only original member) taking over on the trumpet (but not at the same time!). Playing classic Madness, Bad Manners and The Specials, to name but a few. "BADNESS" also play a few of their own songs, written with input from every member of the band. "Trojan Horse" is an instrumental and is much like an old ska classic. With tours of Israel, Germany and Spain under their belts, and having played every town & city in the U.K. (well almost!) "BADNESS" have built up a cult following and regularly sell out venues across the country. Re-live the "Dance Crazy" days of the late 70's & early 80's with the No.1 SKA revival band in the U.K. But be prepared to "Enjoy yourself" ~ It'll be a Hot & Sweaty one!
